My story

From Norway to the UK and back to Norway

I’ve worked in international recruitment since 2003. The first ten years were spent in the UK, working across England, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands, before returning to Norway in 2014.

Back in Oslo, I founded a company focused on outplacement services for organisations going through restructuring. During this period, I worked closely with senior leaders and engineers as they transitioned into new roles. It was also here that I gained a deeper understanding of recruitment — by seeing it from the candidate’s perspective.

That perspective was eye-opening.

It became quickly clear to me that much of the recruitment industry had changed very little over time. Processes were often outdated, tools under-utilized, and candidates not always treated with the care and transparency they deserved. I saw a clear need to modernize how recruitment was done — without losing the human element.

This was the starting point for Rede People (previously AvantGarde Search). From the outset, the ambition was simple: to combine modern tools and methods with a more thoughtful, human approach to recruitment.

That focus remains today. I continue to challenge established ways of working, with the aim of running processes that are rigorous, respectful, and clear for everyone involved. Every candidate interaction reflects directly on the company behind it, and I see employer brand as something to be protected.

Alongside my professional work, I care deeply about mental health awareness and the challenges it presents in modern working life. It’s a perspective that shapes how I work with both clients and candidates, and how I approach responsibility in recruitment.
